Last winter I went to South Korea for the first time and visited my friends who live in Seoul.
I fell in love with the city and of course the amazing food and cafe scene.
One of my favorite experiences during my trip was making my own signature scent by taking a perfume making class at Aromind.
If you are interested in creating your very own custom scent and bottle your memories of Seoul keep reading to find out how!
Aromind is a popular local perfumery offering Perfume 101 small group classes in English since 2014.
Aromind was founded by an aromatherapist named Lina who is the lovely host of each class.
Each class is an hour and a half long and costs $55 USD per person which includes a 50ml full-size perfume bottle and 12ml perfume spray in your new signature scent.
You can purchase the course and select your desired date and time on Airbnb Experiences.

Upon arrival to the stunning Korean traditional house, I was greeted by Lina and offered a complimentary cup of green tea to set the relaxing and calm vibe.
My class had 7 other travelers from around the world and it was fun to talk about our experiences in Seoul so far and chat before the workshop.
To start off the class we were each given a variety of 30 different scents to smell and learned the difference between top, middle, and base notes.
We learned that the top base of any perfume is created with a light scent such as citrus, the middle part is a floral or fruity scent and the base scent a woody, strong fragrance.
By dividing the notes using different kinds of scents it makes the overall perfume more unique and dimensional.
We rated each scent from 1-5 to help with the tough choice of deciding which 3 fragrances would be mixed together to become our new custom perfume.
Luckily we were given a can of fresh coffee beans to smell in-between each scent to help our noses from overwhelmed with all the scents in the room.
Once we decided on which 3 scents to use it was time to carefully mix them by measuring the amount of drops for each note by using a scale and dropper to ensure our perfume was made exactly the way we wanted.
We all made our sample size perfume first to test if the ratio is perfect before moving on creating our full-size perfume.
At the end of the workshop, we each had our own custom perfume so we could always remember our amazing trip to Seoul!
Located in the historic Bukchon Hanok Village, the Aromind studio is a 5-minute walk away from the Anguk Station on Line 3.
I recommend downloading the KakaoMap app for navigating your way around Seoul, as Google Maps does not work properly in South Korea. KakaoMap works in English but recognizes places more easily if the address is typed in Korean.
If you prefer to take a car you can download Kakao T and type in the below address, taxis in South Korea are extremely affordable and you can get one easily without needing to speak Korean by using this app.
I created a handy map to help you navigate your way to Aromind!
