In December 2019 I took a day trip to Bratislava, Slovakia, and the Danubiana Modern Art Museum was definitely the highlight of my short but sweet visit to Bratislava.
I’ve been to dozens of Modern Art Museums throughout Europe and the Danubiana is one of the most impressive ones I’ve visited so far!
Not only does it have an amazing collection but it’s also located right on the Danube River and features an outdoor sculpture garden.
If you are a modern art fan like me or seeking a beautiful and non-touristy photo location on the water, you have to visit the amazing Danubiana Museum.
You can easily access the Danubiana from the Bratislava city center by either bus or car in less than 1 hour.
I recommend using the ride-share app Bolt for the best prices.
*Hot Tip* use my code 68S9W when signing up for Bolt to get €€ off your first ride.
You can also use Bolt in other major European cities including Prague and Budapest.
I called a Bolt to take me to the museum from the city center. It was about a 30-minute ride that cost me only 15€.
On the way back from the museum to the city center, I took the bus as it is located right next to the museum and runs every 30 minutes.
You can purchase a bus ticket at the front desk and the museum staff will kindly help you with what time the bus will come to help you plan your visit.
Here you can find more information about public transportation in Bratislava
Like most museums throughout Europe, Danubiana offers affordable or even free admission.
So if you are ballin on a budget like me, don't worry!
The cost of entry is definitely worth the experience you get visiting this hidden gem.
Even if you aren’t a fan of Modern Art, you can still enjoying visiting the outdoor sculpture garden and the museum store for free.
